Silage making whilst sun shines

One of the fundamental elements of our farm is that all our cattle are 100% grass fed which means that we need to conserve as much silage and hay as we can in the summer to see us through the winter. We mow mid to late afternoon when the sugars in the grass are at their highest and sweetest. All that amazingly fragrant sun drenched goodness is then effectively 'bottled' (compressed and covered, to exclude the oxygen). The result is a highly nutritious pickled forage....

Thank God for the spring sunshine, fresh green leaves, spring flowers and our bonny new calves in these unsettling times.

Our farm shop is open as usual, but if possible please ring in advance to place your order so that we can prepare it before you arrive.

The volume of orders coming through our website at the moment means that there is a slightly longer than normal turnaround time for deliveries, but we're working our socks off to get beef out to customers as quickly as possible....

We'd like to reassure all our customers that our Shop IS OPEN (we are taking all sensible precautions) and we are processing all on line sales.  We have beef, pies, organic chicken, chutneys, free range eggs, quinoa, and chutneys. If there's something you can't find on our website please do ask.  We are here to help as much as possible....

National Butchers Week 9 - 15 March 2020

Did you know that it's National Butchers Week?  Well, it's a week when we can bang the drum about what we're doing and remind everyone that we're here to help. As always, Great Berwick Organics can offer advice on different cuts of meat and on how best to cook them. Sarah is our resident Butcher and, for those of you who've met her know, she is super knowledgeable and passionate about every aspect of her work and our beef.  She knows everything there is to know about our very special organic, pasture fed longhorn beef....

Pipers Crisps launch Great Berwick Longhorn Beef flavour

We're delighted to be working with Pipers Crisps to produce the newest flavour in their range. We are very proud of the recognition this gives to 15 years of hard work establishing the Great Berwick brand and of promoting the Longhorn breed.  It's a complicated process converting our beef into a beef flavoured crisp, but the results are amazing.  Crisps that actually taste like our beef! They'll officially be available from 2nd March....

Christmas 2019

If you've got a house full of friends and family, or if you're planning a quiet one, we've got all bases covered for Christmas. This year, Thursday 19th is our last date for dispatching internet orders via courier and the latest day for collections from the farm is Monday 23rd.  The order book is filling fast, so do please get in touch as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.  We also sell Gift Vouchers in multiples of £5 (http://www.longhornbeef.co.uk/gift-vouchers.  We also have a lovely selection of products from the Garlic Farm ...
