At Great Berwick (just off the Shrewsbury/Baschurch Road) Shrewsbury, we have a purpose built cutting and meat ageing room where the whole carcase is hung on the bone for 35 days. Our Butchers (Sarah and Mike) expertly joint out the carcase and practice seam butchery so as to get the optimum from each cut without comprising on quality. We aim to maximise every element of our precious carcases. Our geographical knowledge of the carcase means that, as well and all the old favourites, we also supply the lesser known steaks and joints too. This includes cuts such as the teres major, picanha, tri-tip, flat iron to name a few. These are the pearls and nuggets of taste joy which our customers discover when they first try them.
We're often told that our beef 'tastes like beef used to taste' and 'once tried it's never forgotten'.

Shrewsbury Farmers Market
We're at the Shrewsbury Farmers Market in The Square every 1st Friday of the month from 8.30am til 3.30pm.
The rest of the dates for 2022 are:
Fri 1 July, Fri 5 Aug, Fri 2 Sept, Fri 7 Oct, Fri 4 Nov and Fri 2 Dec.
The Christmas Market will be Saturday 17 December.
Great Berwick Catering
We’ve had great success with our ultra slow roast, where we sear the joint on a charcoal grill, then cook the beef long and slow for 24hrs. We then sear it once more at the point of serving. We thinly slice and serve this in a soft bread roll with horseradish mayonnaise. This produces the most tender pink beef you will ever eat with a subtle smoked flavour.
